Charlie's First Piano Recital

Charlie's first recital was pretty special. We arrived just in time for introductions, he had no idea what was going on. He watched four kids much older than him get up on stage and play advanced pieces; he started to catch on. When they called Charlie Kretz he walked up on stage slowly all by himself, stopped halfway up the stairs, looked back at us and decided to keep going. He went to the microphone like all the big kids in front of him and adjusted the microphone. He was on his tip toes when he said, "My name is Charlie", then he paused. The instructor asked what he was going to play and he leaned into the mic and said "Ode to Joy". He then proceeded cautiously to the piano and put his sheet music up, he needed to stretch to reach. It was folded so he couldn't read it well. He peered into the darkness looking for Mom; she was already on her way up to the stage. Together with Mom pointing to the sheet music he played his first solo ever so gently. H...

End Summer Trip to Centre Island

On the last day of the summer holidays Uncle Mikey, Mom and Carol were taking Charlie and Evie to Toronto Centre Island. Grandma and GT were going to Toronto so Mikey invited them to come along . The kids enjoyed the up and down bumble bee, driving the cars, water log ride and even the roller coaster- Evie wasn't too sure of the roller coaster. It was a great day- the temperature was perfect and we didn't hardly have to wait in any lines.

Fort Lauderdale - Day 4

Weather called for showers this AM so we passed on the beach. Of course started the day with a walk to Starbucks, found a stroller for Evie in our bedroom which made her feel pretty special. After Starbucks it was off to the Discovery and Science Museum. Kids had a blast with all the exhibits. Lunch at a Cuban restaurant, but not before we had to give Evie a time out for screaming in the car from the museum to the restaurant (pictured below). Entire ride. Luckily it was only a 10 minute drive. More swimming in the afternoon. Took a walk to find some baseballs as the only ball we had was in the neighbors yard. Successful trip and even picked up a water gun at Charlie's insistence. Last day as a 4 year old for Charlie. He's just a little excited for tomorrow.
