Sr. T-Ball Playoffs & Jr T-Ball Day

Charlie had a very successful 2nd year of Jr. T-ball.

His biggest moments might have come this morning when he was called up to play with the Sr Yankees (6/7 year olds) for a play off game.  We arrived to the park moments before the game (complications due to Fun Day for Jr. T-Ball right after the game) and Charlie met all his new team mates.  He didn't like that he was playing for the Yankees very much and he was a bit shy because he didn't know anyone on the team.  Not much time to worry about that as they had him batting 5th.   The coach told all kids to keep the ball away from the 3rd baseman and pitcher as they were the strong players on the other team.  I told Charlie to go "oppo" like we practiced and he ripped a single by the 2nd baseman.

In the bottom half of the inning, they put Charlie at shortstop, which I thought was a bit odd.  He has never played with the Yankees before, he is the youngest on the team and they put him at shortstop.  Well, they apparently knew what they were doing as Charlie snagged every ball hit his way, including a hard hit liner that he had to drift to his left to catch on a short hop. By the end of the first inning, Charlie felt right at home with his new team mates.  It also helped that Uncle Marcus dropped by to take in all baseball fun!

When it was all said and done, the Yankees lost 31-30 to the Dodgers in a 2 hour 15 minute 4 inning play off game!  They asked him to come back and play tomorrow at 2:00PM, but we had already agreed to play for the Sr Angels in the playoffs tomorrow.   Who knew?

From the game we ripped over to Jr. T-ball fun day to catch up with his friends.  James, Rhea and Annie were all there, with Lochlan and Emilia busy elsewhere.

He crashed pretty hard when he got home!
